Today I had to install beginnings at art school, ended up wasting a huge amount of time, stuffed around for ages setting up the tv first off my laptop and then off an iMac. Extension cords where at a premium the was only one power point in the room was installing in couldn’t get a microphone and the audio cable would reach the TV. I was toying with having other versions of the screen installed but with no where to plug them in it just wasn’t going to happen. In the end I had a setup I was ok with but sitting back watching the screen I realised that the colours fading in the back ground weren’t visible at all. so I packed the TV away, gave up on the extra screens and just left an iMac on a plinth, I didnt hate it but cetainly wasn’t my vision, but at least the room was dark. And the colours were vivid.
I think it still worked ok, and i was happy with the idea, I just really need to think more about how something will be viewed / prensented form the begining, and not just assume that it would all come together.
I let in run for about an hour and it all worked ok, even had it making some pretty interesting sounds. Still have to drop back in on Wednesday to start it up again. And I need some admin password, to turn off the screen saver / power saver. but hopefully Wednesday will go ok.
